Reasons For Using SEO RFPs

SEO RFP or Request for Proposal is commonly used for complex, costly and/or long term projects. Each RFP should be customized to reflect the specific project needs, as well as the industry, in order to gain insightful, relevant information. Due to the level of detail and number of requirements that can be conveyed, an RFP can produce a lot of positives, such as:

  • Competitive pricing- Businesses know you are seeking multiple bids when you prepare an RFP, and so they must price accordingly to win your attention and get your business
  • SEO service and skill comparisons made simple as all vendor submissions will be in a similiar format which you will determine
  • Focused and defined needs - RFPs neatly lay out the SEO project needs and requirements up front
  • Objective data - You'll likely be provided with lots of data, graphs, charts, etc., and be able to wow your bosses with your intense research
  • Time savings - RFPs eliminate the need for initial face-to-face meetings with all potential vendors, allowing you to refine the number by simply sitting back and waiting for the RFP responses to roll in. (Of course, there's a big downside to this approach, too see Why Not to Use an SEO RFP)
  • Informed decision - What better way to make a decision than with lots of data?
  • Structure - RFPs are an excellent side-by-side comparison tool as it ensures that your bids come in with a consistent format which you get to set up-front.

There are times where an SEO RFP is appropriate, and then there are times when it's not. Obviously, if you customize your RFP to fit your specific project needs, you'll be much better served than if you use a boilerplate RFP.  An SEO RFP that is not geared toward each project (in other words, no effort is put in to specific details) can have ineffective results (you'll get back vague or unrelated information).

Take our advice. If you are going to use an SEO RFP, then take the time and effort into crafting one specifically for your needs.  Or check out our's and adjust it where necessary.
