Reasons Why Not to Use SEO RFPs

This web stuff can be a lot to take in. If you've got a question, we can help!

While SEO RFPs have some advantages, they have some disadvantages, too.  Written words on paper or screen can come across as cold and impersonal, which is not always the best medium to convey skilled-based services like SEO.  That's why RFPs are often better suited for tangible products than skilled services.

Say you need to hire a lawyer - you don't just want a detailed list of his or her services; you want to sit down and explain your needs so the lawyer can provide solutions to best meet those needs.  You want to know that the lawyer really "gets" where you are coming from.  Same with hiring an SEO company - you will be much better served if you view a prospective SEO company as a partner in your success, rather than a vendor to fit a particular need.  See what we mean?

Unfortunately, an RFP may put too much focus on particular elements instead of looking at the "big picture."  Oftentimes, we as an SEO company are able to uncover issues for clients that they wouldn't have known to ask about in an RFP.  Left to just cut-and-dried criteria, much insight and service value could be lost if an SEO RFP is used for SEO efforts.

Also, if you are a company sifting through several RFPs, it may be hard to compare apples to apples when different firms have various terminology. service offerings and price points. Even service terms may vary betweens companies. Every SEO company has different principles and utilizes different methods and terms, which can leave you more confused than when you began.
