Website Re-Design & SEO Case Study
Not every client requires simple search optimization to meet their business goals. In the case of VLS, a busy and growing lighting company, we needed a more robust plan to make their site meet the needs of their target audience.
After careful research, we worked with VLS in 2014 to change their domain and overhaul their site design to be a targeted, user-friendly, conversion machine. Their previous site did well with organic traffic, and we knew our initial work to rebuild the site would temporarily affect these numbers (down 12.7% after the domain change) as the search engines caught up to our improvements.
Optimization for the new site was completed in two parts. First, we optimized all of the pages throughout the site. Then we worked on ranking retention, putting re-directs in place and asking for link updates from outside sites. This process took several months, but we wanted to be thorough and we wanted to do it right.
After the re-design, however, we saw an immediate spike in leads. In fact, not only did the leads begin to climb that April, VLS ended the year with an overall 125.95% lead increase. Visits to the site also increased by 4.7%, and the lag in organic traffic lasted just a few months, with December 2014 surpassing December 2013 numbers. January and February 2015 organic traffic is also up over 2014.
