POP Setup Instructions for Outlook
Generic E-mail Setup for Outlook 2003
Settings for Outlook 2003 POP3 are relatively similar to other versions of Outlook, making the following setup instructions mostly universal.Outlook typically stores downloaded e-mails in a message store named outlook.pst, which can be easily be backed up as part of a disaster recovery plan.
- After starting OL03, access e-mail account settings by clicking Tools > E-mail Accounts…
- If setting OL03 up for the first time, go to step #3, if manipulating an existing account, go to step #8
- Select (or ensure it is selected) “Add a new account”, click NEXT
- Select “POP3” , Click NEXT
- Fill in the appropriate fields as indicated:
Your Name: Fill in the name that will be displayed in the From field of an outgoing message.
E-Mail Address: type in the name of the e-mail address that other people use to send you a message.
Incoming mail server: Type in the name of the server which will be mail.YOURDOMAIN.com (or .org), i.e., mail.thekarchergroup.com.
Outgoing mail server: same as above.
User name: Type in the user name provided by the excellent support staff of TKG.
Password: Type in the password supplied by TKG.
Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): should not be checked - For some final checks on mail setup, click on the “More Settings …” button.Ensure the following changes have been set:
General Tab: Reply E-Mail – Type in the e-mail address that you want to be used for recipients replying to your e-mail.
Outgoing Server Tab -Ensure that “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” is checked.
Advanced Tab: Outgoing server (SMTP) – Port address will change to 587 for AT&T / SBC DSL lines. - Confirm (click OK, NEXT, or close) to close all open windows, you mail setup is complete. END
- Select (or ensure it is selected)“View or change existing e-mail accounts”, click NEXT
- Select the applicable mail account name, typically the account identified by (default) in the “Type” column.
- Click “Change…”, and manipulate the POP3 settings according to the following settings:
Your Name: Fill in the name that will be displayed in the From field of an outgoing message.
E-Mail Address: type in the name of the e-mail address that other people use to send you a message.
Incoming mail server: Type in the name of the server which will be mail.YOURDOMAIN.com (or .org), i.e., mail.thekarchergroup.com.
Outgoing mail server: same as above.

Password: Type in the password supplied by TKG.
