Authenticated SMTP How-to Guide

This web stuff can be a lot to take in. If you've got a question, we can help!

Fields with an asterisk* are required.

Here's your "Here's How" guide to using authenticated SMTP to send e-mail while using our mail services (for use with Outlook 2003).

Tools >> E-mail Accounts >> View or Change Existing E-mail Accounts

  • In the E-mail Account dialog, select the account corresponding to your mail2.thekarchergroup.com account (assuming it has already been set-up).  Click the Change button.
  • Make sure that the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) text box reads mail2.thekarchergroup.com.
  • Click the More Settings button.  The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box will open.
  • Go to the Outgoing Server tab.Check My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication.  Be sure that the radio button reads, "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
  • Click OK or Next through the remaining dialog boxes.

For additional security, our server will also accept SSL connections.  The certificate, however, is unsigned, so you will be prompted with a security notice.
